Silver Cross: a career copilot for Learning at Work Week

by paul thomas·1 min·179 wordsCASE-STUDY

Silver Cross wanted to mark Learning at Work Week with something on AI. The easy option was a "Learn Copilot" presentation. We did the opposite.

The problem

Generic tool training doesn't stick. People sit through a "here is Copilot" session, nod along, and forget all of it by Wednesday. Nobody walks away using anything. The week looks productive and changes nothing.

What I built

A one-hour, hands-on workshop where every attendee built something real for themselves: a personal skills assessment grounded in the World Economic Forum's 2025 Future of Jobs data, and a six to twelve month career development plan, created live with Copilot, step by step. They left with a Digital Career Development Companion they could return to any time.

People weren't learning Copilot. They were using Copilot to build something they actually needed.

The outcome

Staff owned their own growth instead of sitting through someone else's slides. They came back asking for more sessions, and the companion kept getting used long after the week ended. The public version of the tool is linked below.
